Can't sign in?

In the Running is invite-only for now, so you sign in with Google or a six-digit code sent to your email, using the address your invitation went to. Most sign-in problems have one of the causes below.

Check you're using the invited address

Your invitation was sent to one email address, and that is the one the app knows. Signing in with any other address, even another one of yours, gets the message This account does not have access. In the Running is private and invite only.

  • If you sign in with Google, choose the Google account whose email matches your invitation. If your phone or browser is signed in to several Google accounts, pick the right one in the Google window.
  • If you sign in with a code, type exactly the address your invitation was sent to.

If you haven't been invited yet, join the waitlist at intherunning.app.

Sign in with a code instead of Google

If the Google button does nothing, or its window closes straight away, use a code. Some browsers and privacy settings block Google's sign-in window.

  1. On the sign-in screen, choose Or get a code by email.
  2. Enter your invited email address and choose Send code.
  3. Open the email from In the Running (noreply@intherunning.app) and type the six-digit code into Six-digit code.
  4. Choose Sign in.

A code works for 10 minutes, and only the newest code works. On a phone, the code can often be filled in for you straight from the email.

The code hasn't arrived

  • Wait a minute or two, then check your spam or junk folder.
  • Check the address you typed. The screen says a code is on its way to any address, so a typo looks the same as a success.
  • Choose Send a new code once the countdown on it finishes. A new code replaces the old one.
  • Still nothing after a few minutes? The address may not be the one we invited. Use the invited address, or sign in with Google.

Why it asked you to sign in again

You stay signed in for 30 days at a time, and each time you open the app that renews. After 180 days, or after 30 days without opening it, you sign in again. Signing out on one device doesn't sign you out anywhere else.

On a new phone or browser, you sign in once there. Your account is the same everywhere.

Changes you made while signed out or offline

Changes waiting to be sent from your device are cleared if you sign out before they go, so nothing of yours stays behind for the next person. Reconnect and give it a moment before signing out.

Still stuck?

Email contact@intherunning.app from the invited address and tell us the exact message on screen and whether you tried Google or a code. A screenshot helps.
