The Generali Maratón Málaga starts and finishes on Paseo del Parque, opposite the Rectorate of the University of Málaga. The 2026 marathon is on Sunday 8 November at 8:30.

The race was run in December in each of the last five editions. The organiser now gives 8 November for 2026, so the weather table below is from December races.

The organiser has not published every detail for the November race yet. Where it has not, the guide says so.

Collecting your number 2026 details

The organiser's runners' fair page and frequently asked questions give the same place and hours for the 2026 race. Collect at the Marathon Expo in FYCMA, the Málaga Trade Fair and Convention Center, on Friday 6 November or Saturday 7 November, from 10:00 to 20:00 on both days.

Take your ID card or passport. The regulations also ask for your registration receipt or a copy of your registration. The organiser says that under no circumstances can numbers be collected on race day.

If you cannot come, someone else can collect your number for you. The runners' fair page says they need an authorisation signed by you, a photocopy of your ID card or passport and proof of your registration.

Race morning 2026 details

The first start is at 8:30 on Paseo del Parque, followed by the other waves. The organiser has not published the wave times or how runners are placed in them. The organiser has not published this yet. We'll add it here when they do.

The time limit is 5 hours 30 minutes from the last official start. The regulations list the elapsed time you must have reached at each point.

DistanceMaximum time
5 km0:39:05
10 km1:18:10
15 km1:57:15
20 km2:36:00
25 km3:15:25
30 km3:54:30
35 km4:33:35
40 km5:12:40

Runners who miss a passing time are disqualified and must leave the roadway if necessary.

The regulations say there is a cloakroom where you can leave belongings, and staff may ask you to open a bag first. The organiser has not published where it is or when it opens. The organiser has not published this yet. We'll add it here when they do.

Your number is personal. The organiser does not allow it to be transferred to another person, and running with someone else's number is grounds for disqualification.

The course 2026 details

The marathon is 42.195 km, signposted at every kilometre. The organiser says the route has new roads that are faster, flatter and have fewer curves, and that the route is subject to change through the federation approval process.

The organiser's route page still shows the 2025 map. The organiser has not published the 2026 route yet. We'll add it here when they do. No total climb figure is given.

The regulations list water and isotonic drink at 5, 10, 15, 18, 21, 25, 27.5, 30, 32.5, 35, 37.5 and 40 km. Solid refreshments are at some stations from 15 km onwards.

A separate hydration page lists stations at different distances, including 9.5, 15.5, 21.5, 32 and 37 km, and does not say which year it is for. Treat the regulations as the 2026 list and check the final runner information.

Entering 2026 details

Online registration runs until Monday 2 November at 20:00, or until the 12,000 places are used up. The regulations say that if places remain, a bib counter will be set up at the runners' fair. The organiser may extend the registration period.

Registration is personal and non-transferable, and the fee is not refunded. The organiser offers a cancellation guarantee at registration only, with refund requests due by 15 October. You can change between the marathon and the half marathon before 2 November, with no refund. Minors cannot run the marathon.

Getting to Málaga

From Málaga airport, Aena says Renfe's Cercanías line C1 runs from the terminal to Málaga centre in 12 minutes, to María Zambrano station in 8 and on to Fuengirola in 34. Its page gives no frequency or fares, so check Renfe. EMT's express bus from the arrivals level also goes to the centre, and Aena lists a single ticket at 4 euros.

The 2026 organiser pages do not describe the way to the start or to FYCMA, where you collect your number. The 2025 runner guide, from the race that ran on 14 December 2025, said the start line was about 200 m from Atarazanas, the nearest stop on the Metro Málaga, with an average frequency of 10 minutes. It said EMT runs 45 bus lines every 10 to 15 minutes. Every runner got two EMT tickets in the bag, valid from 6:00 to 18:00 on race day on all lines except the airport bus. The organiser also ran a direct bus every 20 minutes to the runners' fair from near the Centre Pompidou and the cruise terminal. It told runners not to drive to it.

The 2026 expo is at FYCMA, not at the port, so the 2025 fair bus may not apply. The organiser has not published the 2026 buses, tickets or road closures. We'll add them here when they do.

Where to stay in Málaga

The start and finish are on Paseo del Parque, and number collection is at FYCMA. A room within walking distance of the start saves the Sunday-morning trip. Check the trip to FYCMA separately, because it is a different place.

The organiser has not published road closures or race-morning transport. Plan your walk to the start with extra time, and check the organiser's runner information nearer the race.

Weather in Málaga in December

The marathon moved to November in 2026. These are the last five completed race days at Paseo del Parque, at 8:00 and at 13:00. All five were in December, so they are not typical of an 8 November morning. They are model estimates for the start area, not readings from a weather station.

Afterwards 2026 details

The finish is on Paseo del Parque, where you started. Finishers inside the time limit receive a medal, and the regulations place drinks and refreshments in a post-finish area. The organiser has not published where bags are returned or where friends can meet you. The organiser has not published this yet. We'll add it here when they do.

Agree a meeting point with friends before the race and allow time to collect your bag. A physiotherapy and podiatry service is for runners with an injury, not for relaxation massage.
